The Young Orchestra
There is a magic that occurs in a child during Elementary School. They are excited and passionate and endearing. Like a baby learning to walk, falling and falling and falling, but undaunted. They are driven by a little positive encouragement and the thrill of learning. Add to that the thrill of music, and you have the perfect combination.

I direct a small orchestra that is built of 4Th 5Th and 6Th graders. Our group is built exclusively of string instruments, violin, viola, and cello. It is a wonderful experiment in human development.

On this blog I will talk about experiences in the rehearsal and tricks that work or don't work. I have a bachelors degree in Music Education and have learned a few tricks in the field. My hope is that other educators will read this and feel free to share comments of what they find works for them when teaching their private studio or in a group setting. The goal is to create a place to share ideas and music so we can work together to to strengthen the growth of music education from the inside out. May the force be with us.
